Globalization
Globalization has many facets. Merely growing the flow of capital and goods is not enough to promote equitable development and justice. Today, the rules of international trade favor the rich countries and the global elites. If the poor are to have a shot at a better future, then we need new rules that create a wide range of opportunities instead of a single formula for everyone.
The term «globalization» has become so ubiquitous as to be virtually meaningless. It has been used to describe and analyze, to praise and condemn, and almost every phenomenon has at one time or another been filed under globalization or blamed on globalization. Do global markets offer developing countries the best chance for development or are they, on the contrary, a road to ruin? Criticizing globalization means debating questions like these, confronting arguments with counter-arguments and questioning accepted truths.
